Description:DescriptionUnder the direction of the Pathologist and Director of Laboratory Services and in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local regulations and accrediting agencies, the Medical Laboratory Technologist maintains a high level of quality work; performs various chemical, microscopic and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis. Prepares tissue for microscopic examination, hematology, serology, blood banking, urinalysis, chemical and morphological examinations. Assumes responsibility for problem solving and quality control. Qualifications Position Qualifications : 1.Education : A. Required education and training culminating in certification by ASCP, ASMT or AMT as a Medical Laboratory Technician or military laboratory technician certificate of training representing 52 weeks or greater of training; or qualify as testing personnel under CLIA'88. 2.Experience : A. Some hospital experience preferred. 3.Specific Requirements : A. National certification. B. Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. C. Possess the ability to deal tactfully with all types of personnel and medical staff members. D. Knowledgeable of laws, regulations and standards of accrediting agencies. E. Must possess the ability to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple projects simultaneously. F. Awareness of consequences for reporting errors. G. Ability to work under emergency conditions. H. Ability to maintain attention to details for extended periods of time.
