Robert Roope is the designer of Black Eyewear glasses and sunglasses. He is also the driving force and owner of the RoopeVintage online store and Robert Roope Opticians.

The Yorkshire born, dispensing optician opened his optical practice Robert Roope Opticians in 1979 after ten years working at Moorfield Eye Hospital, Selfridges, and American Optical's factories in South East Asia.

Robert Roope began designing eyewear in 1999, which coincided with the launch of his online vintage eyewear store, RoopeVintage(dot)com. His design inspirations came from glasses and sunglasses of the 1950s, which formed the core of his private collection.
